Dalhousie University and the University of King’s College, in partnership with the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia, will host the 2023 USS Conference. This marks the first time the conference is being hosted outside the United States and it will feature keynotes by seven leaders from the spheres of politics, the arts and academia— each an internationally renowned voice on slavery and reparations.
Join us in October 2023 for the exciting opportunity to explore the history(ies), impact(s) and legacy(ies) of slavery in Nova Scotia, Canada, and the movement for reparations within the context of the Americas and the Black Atlantic.
The African Nova Scotian experience represents a different narrative from those elaborated in previous USS conferences: one grounded in the local reality of Nova Scotia and interwoven with national, continental and global themes.
